Come back "Locri Epizefiri between park and museums, from excavation to collection”, a series of meetings with guided tours conceived and curated by director Elena Trunfio. This initiative, which already received considerable attention during its first edition, is being repeated with the aim of bringing the public closer to the museum's collections.
Locri Epizephyrii
Following last year's focus on the Greek city, the 2023 edition will take a journey from prehistory to the Middle Ages, focusing on the three exhibition venues in Locri. Each event begins with a seminar, followed by a guided tour of the museums and park, led by experts. The first event took place recently at the Museo del Territorio and the Municipal Library of Nieddu PalaceProfessor Massimo Cardosa, of the University of Bologna, is in charge of the in-depth study on the protohistory of Locride.Brera Academy of Fine Arts, Entitled "Locri before Locri." It was an opportunity to recall the unique cultural characteristics of the area's indigenous populations, who settled there before the arrival of the Greeks. The seminar was followed by a guided tour of the museum collection.

On July 14th, starting at 17:30 PM, the National Archaeological Museum of Locri Epizephyri will host a discussion about the Greek polis. Together with Professors Diego Elia and Valeria Meirano of the Department of Historical Studies in Turin, visitors will be able to discover the city of Locri Epizephyrii founded “Near the white-topped Zephyrian hill“. The project will benefit from the collaboration of all participants in the university archaeological mission, starting today, June 26. Also in this case, after an initial seminar, the professors will lead visitors on a guided tour of the museum collection and the archaeological areas of the Park. The phase of the Roman Municipium It will finally be illustrated on August 24th at the Casino Macrì Museum Complex. Archaeologist Eleonora Grillo, one of the discoverers of the famous statue of the Togatus of Petrara, will participate and lead visitors on a discovery of the Roman and Late Antiquity phases of the city of Locri.
