In football, relegation is a hard blow, both from a sporting and economic point of view. For this reason, in recent years the so-called "relegation parachute”, a financial instrument designed to support teams moving down from Serie A to Serie B, helping them to reorganise and support the new reality.

However, this innovation has not been well received by fans who consider this a too "convenient" method for relegated teams. On social media in recent times there have been many comments from fans asking to eliminate the parachute because it is implied that some clubs have an interest in being relegated to cash in. This, despite the fact that over time the club presidents have explained that the parachute is a disaster and no one would want to cash in on it. In fact, cashing in on the parachute means being relegated and having suffered various economic damages: halved TV rights, decreased box office takings, decreased marketing, lower sponsorship revenue, devaluation of player transfers, to name a few.
