The "Via dell'Amore", in the Cinque Terre, reopens to tourists. The road, closed for 12 years due to a landslide, has been reopened to residents, but is now also accessible to travellers, by reservation and for a fee only.
the pedestrian street that connects Riomaggiore with its hamlet Manarola, two of the five Ligurian towns known throughout the world as tourist locations.
For tourists, access is from Riomaggiore (on the left as you exit the station) and exit from Manarola for a maximum of 100 people every 15 minutes, but the maximum travel time is 30 minutes.
Visiting periods and times
In low season the route is open from 1 November to 31 March from 9am to 30pm (last access at 17pm), while in high season from 00 April to 16 October from 30am to 1pm: (last access at 31pm).
For groups of up to 30 people, booking is required up to 72 hours in advance with advance payment which can be purchased both online and on site with the Cinque Terre Card Via dell'amore or as an additional fee € 10,00 applied to each type of Cinque Terre Card already purchased.
For tourists staying in accommodation facilities in the Municipality of Riomaggiore, already in possession of the resident tourist card (Guest Card) and for those staying in facilities with the CETS Environmental Quality Mark (European Charter for Sustainable Tourism) the additional fee is € 8.00.
It is possible to purchase the Cinque Terre Cards, which include access to the Via dell'Amore:
