There are books you wouldn't expect to read.

There are stories that amaze you that you never thought you'd hear.

There are "Women" who are the icon of our current society: women on the move, liquid women.

They are women who emigrate abroad: 34 modern ITALIAN migrants who talk about themselves from every place on the planet.

Without veils, without baroque, with honesty and courage.

What do you discover through this reading? That emigration is not just fatigue, willpower and sacrifice.

Emigrating is a wonderful challenge to discover oneself, to explore not only geographical but also internal territories, to learn to embrace the world without setting limits of linguistic, cultural or political boundaries.

Emigrating allows you to reveal a new "I" and to experience new possibilities of existing.

Women who in Italy were hopeless and without motivation. Abroad they have been able to find the strength and resources to reinvent themselves.

Doe from Mexico

Come Daina, who after losing her job at the age of 54 moved to Mexico with her 80-year-old mother, launching herself into a business of organizing cooking classes. Or how Anna Maria, who quit teaching at the age of 40 to move to Africa and work in the tourism sector.

But one also emigrates for love.

We leave our home to follow a man who comes from another culture and from another place, becoming modern Medees who, for a Jason, leave their Colchis.
It is the case of deborah, a Jungian psychologist who meets Alee during a holiday in Thailand. From that moment on, his life turned in a completely new direction.
Today he lives in a fishing town in the Phuket area, next to Alee and Lanna. The child had by this man of other times and places.

Debora, Jungian psychologist from Thailand

Debora tells her story with clarity and, using metaphors, helps all the women who read it to re-learn to trust their instincts.

It is the instincts, as she maintains, that guide us in the difficult choices and make us land where our soul finds meaning in its life.

He then emigrates out of curiosity, out of desire for discovery and to pursue a career which, unfortunately, is often denied to us in Italy.

Come Bullfight, 30-year-old meteorite scientist. From Veneto it moved to Vienna first and then to Brussels and then to Vienna again.
Lidia works at university centers that allow her to continue her research and to continue to engage in the professional and study path she has chosen for her life.

And then there are emigrations that happen because they have to happen, marked in our destiny.
Come
Ylenia, who after spending a year in the US as a high school student fell in love with that country.
However, it is difficult to obtain permission to reside and work permanently in America.

Ylenia and her american dream

But Ylenia did not give up and like thousands of other people in the world, she continued to sign up for the Green Card every year, the lottery that allows you to win a visa for the USA.
And Ylenia one day won the lottery: thus crowning her dream of living overseas.

Finally, there are women who emigrate to bring their families to safety from an Italy that, today, cannot offer a safe and peaceful future for them and their children.

It is the case of Elena, moved to Vancouver with her husband and two small children to have better professional and economic opportunities.
Elena knows that her children will become "Canadians". While this gratifies her by thinking that they will have a life full of satisfaction, on the other hand she works to ensure that they do not forget who they are. What is their culture of origin and where their family comes from.

Annamaria, who moved to Zanzibar for 10 years

By emigrating we become "other" but none of us forget Italy. Our country is always present in these stories. Now with hatred, now with nostalgia, often with a strong love of country.

This is the coach book on expatriation that many Italian women have been waiting for.
34 expatriates take you by the hand and show you what their eyes see and what their heart feels.

You learn to open up by reading these pages, and you learn to be less afraid of the new and the different.

Finally, you learn to take flight if you wish.

Synopsis

Thirty-four Italians who emigrated to every corner of the world tell their stories.

They do it freely, dwelling from time to time on specific aspects of their own experience. Daily life, loved ones, work, habits and customs of the new country, food, art, music, natural beauties, atmospheres.

They speak of the excitement of change, of the difficulties of integration, of pain and melancholy, of the detachment from one's homeland.
Furthermore, they question civil rights, racial and gender discrimination, poverty, social inequality, and much more.
There is a lot of sincerity in these stories. This purely feminine ability to get naked is what binds the different experiences together.
To understand the deep meaning of expatriation in the digital age, to experience and understand the emotions of women who have packed their bags and have become modern migrants.

The authors

Italian women, from all walks of life, age and status, who have talked about their expatriation.
Each of them wrote their own story with enthusiasm, with passion, firmly believing that they could offer concrete help to all the others who would be preparing to read them. It is not uncommon, in fact, that the desire to reach out to fellow countrymen who have remained at home and give them advice and suggestions arises spontaneously between the pages.

The authors met on the web, through a FB page that has become a website since October 2015 www.donnecheemigranoallestero.com
