Choosing the perfect name for your child is not always easy, but the majority of Italian parents have clear ideas, in fact, according to the latest STAT data, some names continue to maintain their place on the podium, while others make their entrance or gain ground compared to previous years.
Italians' Favorite Male Names
Among the preferences of male names in first place continues to remain on the podium Leonardo in all regions of the Center-North, with the exception of the autonomous province of Bolzano where the name Noah stands out.
In the South, first place goes to Francesco, mostly in Molise, Puglia and Calabria, while Antonio excels in Campania and Basilicata.
In Sardinia excels Edward, while, after a short break, in Sicily makes Giuseppe.
According to Istat data for 2023, a new name has entered the ranking among the favorites and it is Edoardo, who, for the first time, occupies the second step of the podium, gaining two positions compared to 2022. Among the female names preferred by Italians, the first two positions remain unchanged compared to last year with Sophia, and remains the most loved, excels in many regions of the Center-North, with the exception of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano which confirms Emma in the lead.
In Aosta Valley is Alice the most chosen name and Aurora excels in Abruzzo, Basilicata and Sicily.
In Liguria and Lazio excels Genevain Umbria and Campania the most chosen name is Vittoria.
Giulia maintains first position only in Pugliaae Beatrice reaches the top of the charts for the first time in Sardinia.

Foreign children born to parents resident in our country are mostly called Adam, Ryan, Amir, but also Matthew and Leonardo.
Among foreign girls, the record always goes to Sofia, Followed by Sarah and Amira.
Foreign parents choose the name of their children very often by being influenced by the most popular ones in our country, for example, among the Romanians the most loved names are there Matteo, Leonardo, Luca, Sofia, Emma and Amelia.
The parents Albanians they are particularly traditionalist and in fact continue to prefer names that are widely used in their country of origin such as Aaron, Liam and Amar for males, while for female children Emily, Chloe and Aurora.
Among the most traditionalists are the parents of Morocco and Bangladesh. Moroccan male children are mostly called Adam, Amir and Rayan, while the Moroccan girls Amira, Sara and Nour.
