Leila, the library of objects in Bologna, a unique reality for the promotion of the culture of sharing and the circular economy. Thus, an attempt is made to encourage good consumer practices based on the loan and reuse of products, with a view to reducing waste and saving money. And, at the same time, also to encourage the spread of a social model based on a culture of trust.

Leila the library of objects

It was born in 2016 as a cultural association, immediately establishing itself as a concrete tool of circular economy and proximity, environmental protection and creation of community through the culture of sharing. Leila is a place where objects can be borrowed for free, thus avoiding having to buy them. All this through the economic savings, the satisfaction of one's desires, the reduction of its ecological footprint, calming the disposal and mass production of objects. This, with the consequent growth of trust and belonging to the community through the principle of sharing, thus allowing actions of active citizenship.

How it works

The service is free, and with your library card you also receive Leila's card for free. How does the object library work? Then, you bring an object intended for sharing or borrow it when necessary. How do you get the card? It's simple: with the library card and an identity document you can go in Purse at Leila's official desk and request it; or you can go directly to the Leila office in via Luigi Serra 2 G/H. The sharing service, for a period of one year, is activated after bringing at least one object intended for sharing.

Objects of daily use such as cutlery, clothes, jewelery and personal items are not accepted; consumables such as work gloves, paints, food, detergents. Just as too bulky objects and weapons are not shared. It should also be noted that the quality of the objects you want to find depends on the quality of the objects that everyone shares! To borrow an item, you must first book it from Leila's website. You can borrow as many items as you have shared.
