Colorful, with the strangest shapes and able to transform into everything that comes to mind. Legos are one of the symbols of our childhood and all of us, at least once, have had to deal with these bricks. And from 9 December to 26 February, at the Rome Auditorium, it will be possible to become children again for a few hours.
The Art of the Brick
After last year's success, the Lego exhibition returns to Rome.
The Mona Lisa, a gigantic tyrannosaurus or the Sistine Chapel are just some of the works to admire. Works created by the genius of Nathan Sawaya and have now become a symbol of contemporary art. In fact, according to CNN, The Art of the Block is one of the ten most unmissable exhibitions in the world. From New York to London, to Los Angeles, via Singapore and Melbourne. On each occasion, the response of the public went beyond all expectations, signing a full house several times.
The space dedicated to Lego collects over seventy works of all kinds. Architecture, painting, but also history and anatomy. Some highlights, such as the full-scale T-Rex, others particularly curious such as the representations of the human body.
It will also be possible, thanks to an interactive space, to be able to unleash our creativity and create our buildings.
The Legos of Nathan Sawaya
Born in Colville, Washington State, Nathan has always had a great passion for art. Creative, brilliant and gifted with talent, but above all a lover of Lego. From an early age he spent hours creating and creating, brick after brick, creating increasingly fascinating and complex constructions.
However, there was a period in which imagination and creativity had to make room for the rigidity of the studies of the Faculty of Law. The profession of lawyer gave greater certainty, and Nathan thus decided to throw himself on the civil and criminal codes. But the call of art is not easy to ignore, and after a few years Nathan returned to his origins, to play and to imagination.
After years of perfecting, the American artist has transformed Legos from a simple passion to a real job. Realizing perhaps what is the dream of many children. And certainly that of some nostalgic adult.
