For Legambiente the most beautiful sea in Italy is located in Pollica, a small town of 2141 inhabitants in the province of Salerno which, with the hamlets of Acciaroli and Pioppi, conquest the top five of 2024. Following are Nardò, Baunei, Domus De Maria, Castiglione della Pescaia.

They are overall 21 le seaside resorts Italian and 12 those lakeside awarded with the Five Sails of Legambiente and Touring Club Italiano, on the occasion of the presentation of the guide "The most beautiful sea 2024".

After Pollica, the second is occupied by the municipality of Nardò, in the province of Lecce, in the Upper Ionian Salento, followed by Baunei, in the province of Nuoro, son the eastern coast of Sardinia.
In fourth place we find Domus De Maria on the Chia coast, always in Sardinia, and al fifth place Castiglione della Pescaia, in the Tuscan Maremma.

New this year is the category of "turtle-friendly" municipalities, which involves 33 municipalities, marked with the "turtle" symbol, who are committed to making the beaches welcoming also for the turtles that lay their eggs.

La big exclusion of this year is the Sicilia, due to a series of questionable tourism interventions and excessive land consumption.

Which is the Region with the most awarded municipalities?

Doubtless the region with the most awarded municipalities with the Five Sails it is Sardinia. Alongside Baunei (Nu) and Domus de Maria (South Sardinia), the municipalities of Cabras (Oristano), Santa Teresa di Gallura (Sassari), San Teodoro (Sassari), Posada (Nuoro), Bosa (Oristano) were awarded.


Tuscany follows which, in addition to Castiglione della Pescaia (Grosseto), includes the municipalities of Capraia Isola (Livorno), Isola del Giglio (Grosseto), Capalbio (Grosseto) and Marina di Grosseto (Grosseto).


So Campania, with a group of municipalities all in the province of Salerno: the first place is joined by the municipalities of San Giovanni a Piro, Castellabate and San Mauro Cilento.


Three Cinque Vele municipalities for Puglia with Nardò (Lecce), Vieste (Foggia) and Gallipoli (Lecce).

A flag is also given to Liguria, with the three municipalities of the Cinque Terre (Riomaggiore, Vernazza in Monterosso al Mare in the province of La Spezia) and in Maratea (Power) in Basilicata.

Which lakes have been awarded

Regarding lakes, the first places are held by Trentino and Alto Adige.

In the first place we find the lake in the municipality of Molveno (Trento), the second from Lake Monticolo to Appiano sulla Strada del Vino (Bolzano) and the third from Lake Accesa, Massa Marittima (Grosseto), in Tuscany. Fourth place is assigned to Lake Mis Sospirolo (Belluno) in Veneto and fifth to Lake Avigliana, in Piedmont. Awarded, for the second consecutive year, also in Lake Scanno (Aquila).

In the ranking of lakes at the regional level, Trentino-Alto Adige confirms itself as the region with the most award-winning locations with the banners of sustainability, followed equal merit from Piedmont and Lombardy.
