The Italian Naval League turns 125 and to better underline this prestigious milestone, the National Presidency has decided to organize a celebratory event at the Rome Tourist Port at Lido di Ostia (RM), scheduled Thursday June 23 2022, in the presence of civil and military authorities, athletes and personalities linked to the world of the sea, presidents and members of the LNI.
Starting from 18:30 the musical band of Marina Militare - the oldest Italian military band complex (1 January 1879), directed by the Captain of the Vessel Maestro Antonio Barbagallo - will delight those present with a charity concert. With the occasion, in fact, they will come raised funds for the purchase of Hansa 303 class boats, extremely stable and easy to use dinghies that allow even people with severe disabilities to sail sailing. The songs, which will range from the classic repertoire to rock, will alternate greetings by exceptional testimonials to talk about the environment, sport and solidarity boating, which has always been among the pillars of the mission of the Italian Naval League.
After the musical opening, the first speech will be that of Alberto Luca Recchi. The explorer, journalist, photographer and diver will address the environmental issue, which has always been dear to the Italian Naval League, which has never lacked its support for prevention and cleaning of the marine environment thanks to the commitment of the 260 Sections and Delegations. throughout the national territory.
Space then for sport. Special guests will be the sailors Giacomo Ferrari (who grew up in the LNI section of Ostia) and Bianca Caruso currently in the sports group of the Navy. The two sportsmen will talk about the emotions of international successes and, above all, of participation in the last Tokyo Olympics, underlining the importance of sport for social inclusion and respect for each other.
Before the greetings and thanks that will be entrusted to the National President of the Italian Naval League, Admiral Donato Marzano, we will talk about a theme that is most dear to the association: solidarity boating. For the occasion, Andrea Stella will talk about his personal experience and how, in 2003, "Lo Spirito di Stella" was born, the non-profit organization of which he is president, actively engaged in promoting the removal of architectural barriers and in favor of sports for everyone.
Before the concert, from 17 pm, it will be possible to attend a sports demonstration to be held in front of the Porto beach, with the involvement of 30 boats including Optimists, windsurfers and canoes that will see the young athletes of the LNI Section of Ostia engaged.
