In a book the political thought of David Sassoli

The event of 9 January at al is dedicated to the book, edited by the journalist and writer Claudio Sardo Quirino Theater in Rome. An initiative in which the participation of the president of the European Commission is announced Ursula Von Der Layen, of former president Romano Prodi, of the secretary of the Democratic Party Enrico Letta, of the writer Paolo Rumiz and of the same editor of the book. Moderating the debate will be Lucia Annunziata. These 336 pages collect the speeches of the season of the presidency of the European Parliament, in which Sassoli shows us a way.

We need innovation, not only in technology, but in institutions, policies, lifestyles, in our being a community. To do this it is necessary to reaffirm the centrality of the person, the protection of rights, respect for differences and plurality. And, together, the pride of the European democratic model. This is the meaning of Sassoli's legacy: the turning point in economic and social policies that Europe was capable of in tackling the terrible pandemic can become an example for the time to come. But now new crises and new imbalances are ahead of us: to face them, Europe must avoid backward steps
