Aurora Talarico, 19, is a young face of the fashion world, but she has already come a long way. 1 meters tall, large and expressive green eyes, brown hair, she is so beautiful that she looks like something out of a Botticelli painting. His debut on the catwalk comes very soon. He was only 79 when Pierpaolo Piccioli, creative director of Valentino, proposes to open the Haute Couture show of the maison in Paris.

A career on the rise

Aurora Talarico, from that moment on, paraded for the biggest names in fashion: Dolce & Gabbana, Hermes, Etro, Max Mara, Luisa Spagnoli, Alberta Ferretti, Liu Jo, Nina Ricci. Her work, around the world, also gives her other experiences: she shoots a video in New York with the model Gigi Hadid; poses for the well-known photographer Giampaolo Sgura; plays a part in a short film by Luca Guadagnino.

Family, studies and dreams

Aurora Talarico was born in Rome, but lives and studies in Paris, the hometown of her mother Sophie, owner of a vintage fashion shop. His father, Guido, of Calabrian origins, is instead a journalist and editor. Aurora has two brothers: Giulio and Gautier. Hers is a united family that follows her and supports her in her passions. Despite her young age, Aurora is a mature girl, with clear ideas: the world of fashion is beautiful and full of charm, but her studies must continue. For her, university and work go hand in hand. He studies marketing and has many dreams in the drawer. Let's get to know her better through this interview, in which she also talks about her places of the heart and, surprisingly, we discover that in her heart there is a piece of Calabria.

Aurora Talarico in student version

Aurora, it all started for fun, posting some photos on Alessia Marcuzzi's fashion blog. Today you show off for the biggest fashion houses. Would you have ever imagined it?

“No, I never would have imagined it. I was too young to imagine something professional, "big". But that experience taught me that you always have to try, that you need to be in the right place at the right time. And do it without being afraid of making a mistake ».

You made your debut at the age of 15, parading for Valentino. What do you remember about that experience?

"All. I remember every single person, every place. Because everything was great. I was little more than a little girl who from morning to night was catapulted to Paris at the center of the most important fashion week in the world. A dream, really. I have Pierpaolo Piccioli, the creative director of Valentino, in my heart, because he saw me and chose me. Then those fabulous haute couture dresses. In the parterre, the Gotha of fashion and the international jet set. It was there that I also met Valentino Garavani, a true icon. Exactly: an unforgettable experience ».

You also made a short film. Would you like to work in the world of cinema?

«Yes, a small part in Luca Guadagnino's“ The staggering girl ”, with Julianne Moore and Alba Rohrwacher. That was also a wonderful experience, as was the video I shot again for Valentino in New York with Gigi Hadid. My approach is to never exclude anything a priori, but for now it seems to me to be enough to be a model and a student ».

You were born in Rome, you live and study in Paris, you travel a lot for work. What is the place most dear to you?

«Rome is my city, I was born and raised there. Now I live in Paris which, needless to say, is magnificent. But I also love the places I've been going since I was little, like our house by the sea in Calabria. There we have a farmhouse, Contrada Guido (a Sellia Marina, Catanzaro, ed), who founded my grandmother Aurora. It is a place dear to all of us: they called my dad Guido inspired by the name of this small village that has belonged to our family for generations. But I also love Arcachon, on the southern Atlantic coast of France. A place of great charm. That's where my maternal grandparents Claudine and Bernard live. "

Can you tell us about your studies?

“I went to all the schools at the French Lyceum in Rome, which calls us Chateaubriand, and I had a great time. This allowed me to really have the two cultures of my family behind me. There I took my Bac (baccalaureate ed), then, two years ago I enrolled at the IFA (International Fashion Academy) in Paris, for the degree course in marketing, which I will finish in June 2022, in the three canonical years. Then I hope to be able to do a master's degree ».

What did you inherit from your parents?

“Dad has traveled extensively for work and for pleasure. He has also lived abroad and in recent years he often goes to Africa. Mum did the same thing, who then ended up leaving France and coming to live in Rome. Dad is very attached to his roots (woe to anyone who touches Contrada Guido!) And is literally crazy about Rome. For her part, Mom is French at heart. But they are really open and I know they could live anywhere. And this is perhaps the greatest gift they have given us children. They have transmitted to us the taste of traveling, in fact my brothers Giulio and Gautier do it a lot too. They made us understand the value of diversity, they got us used to the idea that you can live well everywhere ».

Have you ever thought about becoming a journalist, like your father?

“No, frankly I don't think about it at the moment. It is a job that to do it well you have to prepare a lot. For now, I'm focusing on something else. But, as I said before, I never exclude anything a priori ».

Aurora

In a society like the present one, where appearance predominates, what importance do you give to being?

“Appearance matters. It says a lot about your personality. It has to do with beauty but also with decorum. But that's not the most important aspect of a person. Appearance without the substance can produce negative effects. In short, taking care of yourself, dressing well, playing with outfits is fun, even very important for many. But the quality of the person must always prevail over everything, precisely his being ».

What person is Aurora Talarico?

“Everyone tells me I'm the same as always. I think it's true. I try to be kind, serious, curious, diligent, sometimes a little moody and maybe even a little touchy. But in the end I consider myself one who, like many others, tries to do her duty well with a little joy. In my private life I have my friends who I carry with me from elementary school, always the same, a boyfriend for two years. In short, at work I am ready to change but in private life I am much more stable ».

Who are your models?

«Mom and Dad are two beautiful models. They are very present in our lives, they stimulate and inspire us. Besides them, I am always attracted to those people who succeed in their intent, whether small or large. Here, I like those people who try to do their best whatever work they do ".

What else do you dream of for your future?

“In years of pandemic, health is even more of an issue to be aware of. They have been two horrible years and the dream is to return to normal soon, free to be able to hug and greet again as we did before, free to be able to meet again in cinemas, theaters, concerts. The most personal dream is to move forward, to continue working in the fashion world first as a model and then one day as a manager. There is still little gender equality in this sector as well. Well, perhaps the real dream is this: from growing up to become top manager of a great maison ».
