From 11 to 13 March next Matera will host Cultural, the international festival of food culture, which will have the "geography of taste" as its main theme.
Consulting
Signature cuisine, white art and mixology, the art of mixing cocktails, these are the various areas in which Cultural will be divided, which will have its 'operational headquarters' Alvino 1884. It is an ancient steam mill on the outskirts of Matera, a great example of industrial archeology recovery in southern Italy, articulated on several levels, internal and external, inaugurated in 2019, the last edition of the event. Since 2014, the festival has brought together food specialists, in particular those linked to tradition that respects the seasonality of products.

A tradition, at the same time open and ready for experimentation, innovation and the creation of new trends. The aim of the event is to enhance and promote the Italian food and wine heritage. Therefore, the transmission of knowledge regarding correct nutrition, well-being, respect for biodiversity and the environment protection. 50 exhibitors from different regions will take part in the three days; cooking schools, wine and oil tastings are also scheduled. Among these are also the productions of the Olivarum Basilicata Prize.

The food culture festival
”The sixth edition of the festival intends to travel a large part of Italy to outline an ideal gastronomic itinerary among the regional specialties. This, with the precise intention of giving the right emphasis to local productions and territoriality". These are some considerations by the organizer Mauro Bochicchio. The president of Cna, Leonardo Montemurro, reiterates that work is underway “to make di Cultural' an event of reference and promotion of the food culture of the South”. The event is organized by Consortium Paris in partnership with Cna agri-food, Region Basilicata, Terre di Castel del Monte Consortium, Molino Casillo, Colli della Murgia Winery and The Golden Egg.
