It was May 25th, the day on which, coincidentally, Veroli celebrates Saint Salome, a beloved figure in the town. Where the plane crash occurred, there still stands a sort of monument, a plinth with an evocative propeller and a plaque commemorating the tragic event. Perhaps, however, it wasn't just a simple plane crash, but rather a brush with destiny that had only been dramatically postponed. A married couple, the most prominent passengers on that plane, were traveling. Both had been involved in a shipwreck not long before the tragic event. They were on a cruise ship, an ocean liner flying the French flag.

They were traveling on the “Georges PhilipparA fire broke out on board off the coast of Somalia. Despite the insurance company's investigations, the cause of the sudden flames was never found. In any case, the ship sank.

And yet Suzanne Sarah Picard and Alfred Isaak Lang Willar, managed to swim, saving themselves in a daring way on a ship flying the Soviet flag. Incredibly, they managed to bring a camera with them, including the film, without damaging it in the water. Thanks to this not insignificant detail, photographs of the sinking ocean liner exist. It seems A story worthy of the 007s of the mid-60s. The crash occurs on 25 May.
