Considered to be contemporary neorealists, the Tor Bella Monaca twins are bearers of originality and innovation.
A deep passion for writing derived from their parents and a lot of determination is making the profession they have always believed in stands out with distinction in the eyes of the whole world. These young directors and screenwriters have a crazy style but this is because they were not afraid to show us their point of view which is often full of inquisitiveness.
They started writing together in their twenties as goshtwriters. Some Italian artists are starting to take an interest in them but he was the highly acclaimed Matthew Garrone to turn their careers around. They meet by chance, chat for a while and suddenly the magic of the three merges into the writing of Dogman. From there, opportunities flourish for the promising duo that leads them to the realization of their project The land of enough. It was presented in the Panorama section of the 68th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival and the film won numerous awards including best first film and best new directors at the 2018 Nastri d'Argento. The next film is Bad stories and wins the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at the Berlin Film Festival 2020. These directors remain etched in our memory with their at times disturbing rawness and restlessness as they make us feel feelings that perhaps we would not have wanted to hear but bring us to a particular introspection, finally giving us pleasure.
This pleasure can derive from the appreciation of the work of art itself, as it is not indifferent and / or a pleasure that comes close to a disturbing sensation that has touched us deeply. We also experience similar sensations in Latin America "A love story, and like all love stories therefore a thriller”The D'Innocenzo family tell us. Between climax and beauty they give us a mix of emotions that confuse the plot until the end but this cinematic structure fits perfectly with their style which in this case takes us from one extreme to the other, from the anguish created by gruesome scenes to angelic photography. which outlines the beauty and personality of the rest of the film's cast.
Their first series on Sky will arrive soon, it's called Dostoevsky and deals with dark and mysterious themes. I don't know about you but I can't wait to see how they surprise us this time.
If you want to admire a different point of view that does not necessarily have to have a positive implication but gives you the opportunity to appreciate a work of art as a whole and be updated on the history of Italian cinema, the D 'twins Innocenzo are for you.
