Almost a year has passed since the death of Paolo Rossi, the Pablito world champion 1982 who thrilled the Italians with his talent. Like any legend, however, Paul too will remain immortal, because legends never die. They remain etched in the memories of the people who have lived their exploits (sporting and not) and are also reborn in the hearts of the new generations, thanks to their timeless fame. Today, September 23, Paolo Rossi would have done 65 years. That frail boy was a sporting example (and of humanity) for many and for this reason he received several awards even after his death, such as the heading of a road to Vicenza (Largo Paolo Rossi 9) and the Bucine stadium (AR), a small Tuscan town where he had made his dream come true, namely the creation of an agritourism Poggio Cennina Resort, which he managed together with his wife Federica Cappelletti.
The shooting of the film about Paolo Rossi by Walter Veltroni has begun
The history of 'blue champion of the world will soon be revived in the cinema too, thanks to the director Walter Veltroni.ex mayor of Rome recently started filming what will be one docu-series on Pablito. This will tell about his childhood a Prato, his early years as a footballer, his youth, his world success, but will also focus on the years of Pablito off the pitch, until the last period of his life. They will also not fail interviews of those who knew Paolo Rossi, stock photos and more unpublished material. Veltroni's idea, as stated by the director himself in an interview with TVPrato.it is that of "tell the life of a boy from Prato who had no apparent physical title to be able to become the great champion he has become and if he did it is because he also had character skills, tenacity, to react to adversity, which led him where we all know».
Paolo Rossi is one of those figures who made sporting Italy great. What would Pablito think of the new one Italy of Roberto Mancini, victorious at Euro 2020? Surely he would have been proud of it and would have thought, perhaps with nostalgia, of when it was he who raised the (world) cup to heaven in 1982. The man who symbolizes the "Magic Nights" of the Mundial of Spain, who was able to get up after the disqualification for the affair of football bets and conquer the world (thanks also to the trust that Bearzot gave him), is the very symbol of authentic Italy, that does not give up and knows how to rise from its own ashes. For this reason, Paolo Rossi is still very much loved and is missed by many fans (and not only) every day. Happy birthday Pablito, wherever you are. Thank you for helping to bring football Italy to the top of the world.
