The Tour of Italy! After an exciting Giro 2021, which celebrated i 160 years since the unification of Italy, the 105esima edition of the tournament will start the 6 May byHungary. It is in fact the fourteenth Great Partenza from abroad in the history of the competition (the first in 1965 a San Marino and the last in 2012 a Herning in Denmark). The Giro d'Italia 2022 it will then continue from Sicilia and will travel all over theItaly, touching big cities, like GenoVa e Torino (final stage of the past edition). The Giro will then end 29st May (three weeks and 3410,3 kilometers after), inside thel'Arena di Verona,.
All the stages of the Giro d'Italia 2022
The first three stages of the Giro d'Italia 2022 will take place in Hungary. The tour will in fact start from Budapest and will stop at Visegrad, after a journey of 195 kilometers. It will then be the turn of the sprinters, with one 9,2 km da Budapest a Budapest Tissot ITT. The third stage will be the Kaposvar - Balatonfüred, which includes a path of 201 kilometers. The tour will resume from Sicilia, with the stages Avola - Etna (166 km) e Catania - Messina (172 km). The group of cyclists will go up the boot, first with the stage Palmi - Scalea (192 km) then Diamond - Power (198 km) and, finally, Naples - Naples (149 km), with a tribute to Procida Italian Capital of Culture 2022. The ninth, tenth and eleventh stages will cover the Center of Italy, with Isernia - Blockhaus (187 km), Pescara - Jesi (194 km) e Santarcangelo di Romagna - Reggio Emilia (199 km).
It will then start again towards Northern Italy with the twelfth stage Parma - Genoa (186 km), which will cross theEmilia Romagna , Liguria. The athletes will continue their way to Piedmont, with the stages Sanremo - Cuneo (157 km) e Santena - Turin (153 km). The fifteenth planned stage is instead the Rivarolo Canavese - Cogne (177 km). They will follow Salò - Aprica (200 km) and the Ponte di Legno - Lavarone (165 km). The Giro d'Italia 2022 will finally end with the stages Marano Lagunare - Castelmonte Sanctuary (178 km), Belluno - Marmoloda (Fedaia Pass) (167 km) e Verona - Verona (17 km), where the champion of this edition will be awarded.
The difficulties of the mountain
The whole Giro provides 7 stages for sprinters, 6 in the mid-mountain, 2 high mountains, 2 individual time trial, 4 arrivals uphill. Another curiosity is the difference in height 51.000 meters that cyclists will have to face along the route (for example for the stages of Etna and the Blockhaus). It is not yet clear which and how many will be participants at the Giro d'Italia 2022. In the list of the "totonomi" there is already talk of the Italians Alberto Bettiol o Vincenzo Nibali and Colombian Egan Bernal (winner of the Giro d'Italia 2021). Of course, for the moment it is only rumors. There official list of participants in fact, the Giro d'Italia 2022 will arrive in the near future. Despite this, the presentation of the route of this edition alone has already excited the many fans of cycling (Italian and non-Italian).
