Medieval days Brindisi Montagna. We are in the year 1268. Charles I of Anjou, king of Sicily, entrusts the fief of Brindisi to Guidone de Foresta and names him "Primus dominus Brundisii de Montanea et Ansiae". From this historical event the Medieval Brindisi Mountain Days were born. Two days, which starting from 1998, revive the past. The Middle Ages took shape and attracted visitors and onlookers in a festive jubilation. Brindisi Montagna, a splendid village in the province of Potenza (Basilicata), turns into an open-air theater.

The party takes place in the heart of the town, among narrow streets, alleys and stairways. L'last weekend of October between markets, re-enactments, shows and a dip in the traditional flavors of the place. A fixed appointment, which for twenty years has fascinated and delighted travelers. The medieval days at the court of Guidone are organized thanks to the collaboration of local Pro loco and the municipal administration. Knights, minstrels, noblewomen will parade in the shadow of the fascinating Fittipaldi Castle - Antinori. The ancient crafts come to life and the event is accompanied by good local food served in the inns. An opportunity not to be missed, one more reason to switch off, visit Basilicata and be enchanted by the beauty of this ancient village.

The Brindisi Montagna Medieval Days will open on Saturday 27 October at 11 am with the opening of the Fittipaldi Castle - Antinori. As scheduled: "inside the museum of the holy inquisition and torture, the ancient crafts, the legend of Guidone De Foresta and the flavors of the past will lead you by the hand into the history of a past time." The day will be articulated with the medieval educational market, tailoring and entertainment. Following: concerts, thematic workshops, tightrope walkers and shows. On October 28, however, the celebrations for the royals will be added with the presence of court jesters, musicians and acrobats. The final concert, not to be missed, will be by the "I Rota Temporis" with dances, fire shows and waders.

Admission: 1 euro as a contribution to enter the party. 5 euros to visit the Castle (every 45 minutes from 11.00 am to 12 pm and from 30 pm to 14 pm). Children under one meter do not pay.

Info for campers: Stop at the Carlo Mori Sports Field in the Aia Chiaffa district, a few steps from the town. In via Fontanelle, at the Gianni Pecora Municipal Camp there are two columns for loading and unloading, which can be used during the event. Cost: € 10, to be paid upon arrival and registration.

How to reach the village of Brindisi Montagna: From the Tyrrhenian coast, take the A3 SA-RC motorway to Sicignano. Follow the Potenza-Sicignano link up to Potenza. Continue on the SS 407 Basentana up to Brindisi Montagna. From the Adriatic coast, however, exit at Foggia and take the SS 90 up to Candela. Continue on the SS 303 up to Melfi, follow the SS 93 up to the Basentana SS 407.
