These days we celebrate World Water Day. The only floating city in the world will be a European center of aquatic biomimicry: we are obviously talking about Venice. Started on March 21 and scheduled to end on March 25, the lagoon city is hosting for five days the Aquamour Festival. Guests will include the 2023 Nobel Prize for Water Andrea Rinaldo, the founder of the Blue Economy Gunter Pauli and many others. So, the project is ambitious: elect Venice World Water Capital.
Aquamour: the Venice event on the water
These days the Aquamour Festival. Five days full of shows, conferences, workshops. Mixing culture, economy and science to enhance the most essential good of the planet: water.
The Aquamour Festival (started on March 21 and will end tomorrow, March 25) presents a five-day program. And it is part of the more ambitious project to transform the Veneto capital into the capital of what could become the Venice Acqua Valley.
The guests of the event
Guests at the event include Gunter Pauli, creator of the Blue Economy and founder of ZERI (Zero Emission Research Initiative), an international network of experts committed to the development of innovative production and consumption systems. Also present will be Andrea Rinaldo, winner of the 2023 Nobel Water Prize, which will illustrate a model of optimized management of water resources with the aim of improving the quality of life. The observation and imitation of marine ecosystems, true replicable models of efficiency, offer human societies ideas for evolving in a more sustainable way.
In this event, the biologist Marta Musso will present “Possea” – short for “Pos(sea)ble/Possible” – a travelling laboratory that explores the microscopic world of plankton, offering engaging educational experiences to promote marine culture. Giovanna Melandri, current president of Human Foundation and Social Impact Agenda for Italy, will deepen the link between sustainability and social economy in the context of global challenges. Numerous round tables and conferences will liven up various spaces in the city: “The Home of the Human Safety Net” will be set up in Piazza San Marco, while the showroom for biomimetic start-ups will be located at LeonardH20. The Greenhouse of the Royal Gardens will be transformed into Aqua Pavilion, while the exhibitions will be hosted in emblematic locations such as Giudecca, Fàbrica 33 and Fucina del Futuro.
