313 ° Acrobatic Training Group, official name of the Department that saw the light on March 1961, XNUMX at the military base of Aimed, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, welcoming for the first time the pilots of the Frecce Tricolori and effectively establishing the national aerobatic team.
A story that begins in the 30s
The first Italian aerobatic flight school was founded in 1930 at the Udine-Campoformido Airport by the initiative of the colonel Rino Corso Fougier and in June of the same year there was the first air show called “Giornata dell'Ala”. The aerobatic team was dissolved during the Second World War to be reassembled later with grafts of American and British aircraft. 1953 was the year of the turning point, with the formation of the patrol Flicker who participated in numerous European events and became more and more known so much so that in 1955 he was the source of inspiration for a film called "The four of the thundering jet". In 1956 it was the turn of the recomposed formation of prancing Horse, before using the smoke generator.
The tricolor in the skies
In 1961 the Frecce Tricolori were equipped with a new smoke system designed by Captain Angelo Luca Nardella, which was able to release the colors of the Italian flag. 61 years have passed and even today that tricolor that pierces the skies designed by 10 specialized pilots represents the symbol of pride, technology, the spirit of sacrifice and unity of the Italian Air Force. The Frecce shows are very popular all over the world and keep adults and children speechless.
