From 13 July a splendid novelty will allow tourists and visitors from all over the world to admire some of the wonders of Florence at a reduced price. Thanks to a new and unique ticket that can be purchased online with a joint formula, it will be possible to visit the monumental complex of Santa Croce, the Baptistery of San Giovanni and the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo.

The initiative was born from the collaboration between the Florentine institutions of the Opera di Santa Croce and the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore. The shared objective is to consolidate a quality welcome and to support the recovery of tourism. A very specific choice due to the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. For the first time the three places are proposed together with the visitors: the history of Florence between art and spirituality with just one ticket.

Santa Croce and Baptistery

Il monumental complex of Santa Croce it includes the basilica, the Pazzi chapel, cloisters, upper room and convent spaces. It symbolizes the relationship between Christian faith, art and culture and its heritage is invaluable. It is one of the most loved places in Florence, a must for those who want to visit the city. Suffice it to say that "the Pantheon of Italian glories" contains the tombs of illustrious personalities such as Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli, Rossini and Foscolo.

The Baptistery of San Giovanni is one of the oldest churches in Florence. With an octagonal plan, covered with slabs of white and green Prato marble, the Baptistery is covered by a dome with eight segments resting on the perimeter walls, masked on the outside by the elevation of the walls above the arch of the second level and by a roof squashed pyramid. An authentic masterpiece of Florentine architecture with mosaics from the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries inside.

The importance of the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo in Florence

Inside the Baptistery there were originally also other great works of art. Among these the Maddalena di Donatello or the Silver Altar, visible today at the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo for conservation reasons. And it is the Museum of the Opera del Duomo that is the third stage that can be visited with a single ticket. Inside it will be possible to admire one of the most important collections in the world of sculpture from the Middle Ages and the Florentine Renaissance. It is a unique opportunity to admire unique masterpieces. Just think of the Pietà of michelangelo, the Magdalene and the Prophets of Donatello, the Cantorie of Luca della Robbia and Donatello. The same goes for the legendary Gates of Paradise and the North Gate of Lorenzo Ghiberti of the Florence Baptistery.

The Museo dell'Opera del Duomo is today one of the most important museums in the world. A recognition for the value and number of works of art kept inside. And also for the architectural and technological avant-garde of its environments and its museographic equipment.
