What do we know about "The Italian Factory"
“La Fabbrica dell'Italiano” was created using fictional scenes by Fabio Baronti's Compagnia delle Seggiole, but also interviews and insights. The result? A splendid story to discover the Italian language, its facets and its complex uniqueness. Wanted by the Accademia della Crusca, and signed by the Tuscan production house Berta Film, "La Fabbrica dell'Italiano" involved well-known faces of the Italian cultural scene: the historian Alessandro Barbero, the actress Monica Guerritore, the art historian Tomaso Montanari. And then, of course, the most prominent personalities ofBran Academy. The narrator will instead be "I Nuovi", an association of young actors trained at the "Orazio Costa" school of the Teatro della Pergola in Florence.
“La Fabbrica dell'Italiano”, as well as an opportunity to deepen the history of Italian, will also be an opportunity to get to know the Accademia della Crusca up close. Some scenes will in fact be set in the halls and in the garden of the Medici villa in via di Castello in Florence, which can now be visited. We will see the deeds of the founders, their first and playful meetings, the process that led to the birth in 1612 of the first European vocabulary. Like this, know how Italian was born, it gets easier. But it will also be easier to understand what the Accademia della Crusca really is and what its tasks are. The film will air at the end of November on TV, after the preview presentation at the Festival dei Popoli in Florence.
What does the Accademia della Crusca do?
The Accademia della Crusca is an Italian institution that brings together scholars and experts in linguistics and philology of the Italian language. It was founded in 1525 Leonardo Salviati who, initially, had the idea of a playful organism. However, what is the oldest linguistic academy in the world today carries out its commitment in an excellent way: to preserve the purity of the Italian language. It is in fact a very important scientific research center, whose purpose is the study and promotion of Italian. The objective of the Accademia della Crusca is to make the historical knowledge of our language known and disseminated in Italian society and abroad. Starting with the school desks.
You can visit the Accademia della Crusca? The answer is yes. You can access the library and archive and participate in conferences, seminars and guided tours if you have the Green pass. The villa in which it is now based was the favorite residence of the Medici, purchased by the Stufa family at the suggestion of Lorenzo Il Magnifico. In its splendid garden, Tiepolo and Vasari worked while its rooms, over the years, hosted allegorical paintings by Pontorno but also the Birth of Venus and Spring by Botticelli (now preserved in the Uffizi). Seat of the Accademia della Crusca since 1966, restored by the Superintendence of Environmental and Architectural Heritage, it is now at the center of "La Fabbrica dell'Italiano".
