With Eurochocolate 2021 the sweetest time of the year has begun. The great international chocolate festival, after the 2020 break, has reached its 27th edition this year. Hosted for the first time at the exhibition center Umbria fairs of Bastia Umbra, the event opened on October 15th and will end on October 24th. Eurochocolate is made with the patronage of the Umbria Region, the Province of Perugia, the Municipality of Perugia, the Municipality of Bastia Umbra and the Perugia Chamber of Commerce.

The origins

The first edition of Eurochocolate took place in 1994, thanks to an intuition of the architect Eugene Guarducci, today president of the event. The festival has thousands of visitors every year attracted not only by the goodness of the product, but also by the numerous and engaging initiatives connected to it. The event earned the city of Perugia the nickname of "City of chocolate". The protagonists of the event are the traditions of Italian and international chocolate.

Change of location for security reasons

To achieve Eurochocolate 2021, the change of location was necessary to better implement the current security protocols. For the event to return again to Piazza IV Novembre, in the historic center of Perugia where it has always taken place, we will have to wait until next year. However, the old part of the city was not excluded from the expected festival. Piazza della Repubblica has indeed welcomed the project Perugia Chocolate District, a delicious journey through the production excellence of Umbrian chocolate, which will continue at the offices of the companies that have joined the "Open Chocolate" initiative. Furthermore, staying in the historic city center, it is also possible to participate in guided tours of Perugia.
