Students prepare for the Maturity exam, as has been the case since 1923, or the Gentile Reform, which introduced this test at the end of high school studies, the only ones at the time to allow access to university.
They are more than 500 thousand students ready to try their hand at this test, scheduled in about a week. Specifically, on June 14, the draws of the letters will be held, so as to determine the calendar of the interviews, which will be held on 16.
Maturity exam, how it takes place
Here are the numbers of students who are preparing to take the last step to drop out of high school and try their hand at the world of work or continue with their studies:
- high schools: 255.899
- technical institutes: 169.354
- professional: 96.908
All the students involved have had to face an out of the ordinary experience in the last year and a half. They were allowed to return to school a little over a month ago, finding their classmates and those long-lost sensations. Many of them have also been vaccinated, so that you can facilitate the examination process and, later on, enjoy a freer summer after so much trouble.
As happened last year, we will limit ourselves to the oral exam, lasting about an hour. It will start from the discussion of a paper prepared by the student, based on a topic assigned by the class council. All delivered in advance by the end of May. We will then move on to the analysis of a text of letters and other materials prepared by the commission for the other disciplines.
The student's curriculum
The real novelty this year is the student's curriculum, introduced by the reform of the Good School of 2015. Un three-part document (Education and Training, Certifications, Extracurricular Activities). It contains all the information on all the subject's skills.
A large collection of data, accumulated for the first time, also relating tosports field, eg. All this will be taken into account in the examination phase, considering the scholastic path in its entirety.
The score
The Maturity has a maximum score of 100/100, to which honors can be added in the final evaluation. THE credits they are accumulated over the school years, for a total of 60 points (18 for the third, 20 for the fourth, 22 for the fifth).
The oral exam involves the assignment of a maximum of 40 points. However, students are allowed to compete for one extra 5-point bonus. The commission will decide who to grant it to, depending on the merit. Each student will face a commission of internal professors, with the only exception being the external president.
Safety Maturity Exam
Considering the Covid-19 pandemic still in progress, all the necessary measures have been taken to ensure a safe completion of the Maturity exams. Each school will be able to carry out a maximum of five interviews per day. A minimum distance of two meters between the student and the commission is also required.
The use of the mask is mandatory, which must be of a surgical type. Community masks cannot be exploited and the use of FFP2 is also not recommended. Graduates cannot have more than one companion in tow. They are required to be at school 15 minutes before the time of the meeting, and then leave the building after taking the exam.
