As the State Exam approaches, the habit of making hypotheses about the possible topics of the first written test has returned among high school students. There are now only a few days left until the official debut and the tototema is once again the protagonist of discussions and surveys. But what will the tracks for the first test June 18th at the final exam?

Maturity exams: type A

The Italian exam, which will last six hours, will allow students to choose between seven topics divided into three categories: text analysis (Type A), argumentative text (Type B) and current affairs essay (Type C).

Starting from Type A, the names of the authors on whom the predictions focus, according to the data collected by Skuola.net, are Gabriele D'Annunzio, Eugenio Montale, Giuseppe Ungaretti and Giovanni Pascoli. It should also be noted that this year marks the centenary of the publication of Ossi di Seppia, Montale's famous collection of poems, and the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Pier Paolo Pasolini, elements that could influence the ministerial choice.

Typology B: 80 years since the end of the Great War

Turning instead to the Type B, dedicated to reflection and argumentation, the historical anniversaries of 2025 offer numerous ideas. In fact, we remember the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the death of historical figures such as Hitler and Mussolini, as well as the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, which laid the foundations for the current European Union. Added to this are the 40 years since the signing of the Schengen Treaty, which made free movement between different European countries possible: all events that could inspire a theme on the concept of Europe and on political and social integration.

Type C: Artificial Intelligence, but also from the Pope to current wars

Finally, regarding the Type C, dedicated to current issues, students' predictions indicate that among the main candidates are artificial intelligence, increasingly present in daily life and ethical debates, and the Catholic Church, thanks to the Jubilee and the election of Pope Leo XIV. However, topics that have been on the front pages of the news for months cannot be ruled out, such as gender violence and ongoing armed conflicts, including the wars in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip. As every year, hypotheses chase each other, but certainty will only come on the day of the exam, when the official tracks will finally be revealed.
