La Serie B is shaken by a real earthquake: Brescia risks a 4-point penalty that could radically change the final standings and the verdicts in the relegation zone. The news was released a short while ago by the Gazzetta dello Sport.
Penalization Brescia: the situation
With -4, the Lombard team would slip to third-last place, relegated to Serie C together with Cittadella and Cosenza. The beneficiaries would be Frosinone, Salernitana and Sampdoria: Frosinone would avoid the playout and would remain in B, the Salernitana would play it with the best possible placing, while the Sampdoria would incredibly be fished out to play for salvation.
The penalty is said to be based on an irregularity in the club's tax payments. Cellino: to meet the February deadline on salaries and contributions, the company allegedly used tax credits that later turned out to be non-existent. Brescia could still appeal.
