Everyone knows that in the United States there are hospital facilities most avant-garde on the planet. But often it is the Italian minds that excel in the medical field, which every year produces highly trained doctors. Thanks to an innovative intervention, in fact, Joseph Better, forty-four, originally from Caltanissetta, was elected as the best heart surgeon in the world.
The best radial surgeon in the world
It was an intervention by coronary angioplasty to consecrate the fame of Giuseppe Migliore, elected in the United States as il heart surgeon best in the world. The technique with which the Nyssian has faced the surgery, in fact, represents a pioneering approach to perform an angioplasty. The heart surgeon, in fact, performed a radial access, that is, passing through the wrist artery to reach the heart. This technique has replaced the more conventional one which would see access via the femoral artery. To benefit from it a 52-year-old patient, who deserves the honor of having lent his heart to scientific progress.
This surgical technique, which reduces the risks, times and costs of intervention, was born in Italy. During the specialization athospital Cisanello of Pisa, in fact, he learned this different approach to angioplasty, which he then deepened in Amsterdam with Professor Ferdinand Kiemeneij who was the first to perform it in this way. And that's how the medical health insurance company, who works at the Villa Sofia-Cervello Hospitals in Palermo, has shown the world that in the south of Italy there are still some world-class excellence.
Proud to be Italian and Sicilian
There was so much satisfaction for Dr. Migliore, who did not hesitate to perform an operation made so complicated due to the small size of the radial artery. With pride, in fact, at the awarding of the prize he was keen to underline that "the excellences are here too, it is that the journeys of hope are no longer needed". This is a statement that gives voice to the many talented doctors who work in Italy and who do not feel second to other professionals who often work in much more advanced structures.
Fair membership, however, cannot keep valid professionals forever in a country that it should invest more in scientific research. He admits, in fact, that he has made more than one thought about going to work abroad, but thelove for Sicily and for his family they held him back. This choice, certainly taken with difficulty, did not, however, lead to second thoughts for Doctor Migliore. Indeed, he believes in a bright future for his region and to reiterate this he uses a very important quote: "How did Paolo Borsellino say? One day this land will be beautiful. Here, I believe it". And we Italians can only be proud of a professional who is the Better by last name ... and in fact.
