Perhaps we have not quite understood what has happened in these hours. The American people have just elected billionaire Donald J. Trump as President of the United States of America. And this fact can no longer be a reason for laughter.

America is not far off

We like to fantasize a lot about the myths of lands that seem to us just one or two strides away from the imagination. But America, by now, is not far away; being "on the other side of the moon", quoting Dalla, has no meaning in politics. Our generational tendencies are American; our fast food, shopping malls, our clothing, aesthetic standards, cinema, literature, music, journalistic paradigms, even our dreams emulate the American mood. But despite this, America remains a continent on which polls cannot have a reliable validity; because it is divided into about fifty states that often do not share social habits and customs; if not the fairy tale of the "American dream", now more retro than a work by Robert T. McCall.

Who had already understood everything

But this had already been announced by M. Moore in a recent report article a few months ago. In July, Moore explained how Donald Trump, contrary to what pollsters might claim, would win the presidency. The republican winning wind is already blowing with joy in the declarations of the many Salvini and Le Pen, enthusiastic about the victory of their American comrade. They know well that such a current knows no windows that it cannot open wide. While Hillary Clinton might have found convincing alibis to lead the United States into probable military conflict; Donald Trump is already keeping his finger on the nuclear button, believing it may be the White House air conditioner.

Bitter predictions

Everything appears to be sufficiently distant a bitter laugh. However, just imagine if the same political fate will befall us. Just imagine that the methods of isolationism and the squeeze on immigration affect the dreams of those who would like to look at America closely, without a pointed gun. Imagine that our fascinating projects and all travel itineraries will be challenged by nationalist tendencies which will be summed up in a Wall; an endless fence of terror placed between us and the world.

Imagine that all the nationalist political realities present on European soil take effect from this result. Who from today, those they call "populists", will climb the heights of the polls; investigations that, unfortunately or fortunately, have a value here. Can you too see the ghost of the collapse of the EU? That system which until now has allowed (among other things) the free movement of European citizens?

Now, try to think that Europe is the next papal goal of the most vulgar and regressive form that the far right has ever given birth to in history. There is no longer any need to imagine. Know that that wind, at this moment, has already crept between the columns of our polls. Now, Donald Trump, it's no longer funny.
