From February 27th to March 2nd the Mobile World Congress. Considered by all to be the largest showcase for the telecommunications and entertainment sector, it presents great news every year. From smartphones to new data connection systems, passing through televisions, artificial intelligence and much more. And there was no lack of Italian projects such as the towers Dicecell, the new and elegant antennas made in Italy.
The Dicecell Towers
Cold, bare and, let's face it clearly, ugly: cell phone repeaters are certainly not a source of pride for street furniture. We have always thought exclusively about functionality and not about the aesthetic aspect, with the result of finding ourselves a real eyesore in the city context. But things are changing, also and above all by virtue of the growing number of mobile devices. In fact, it is expected that by 2021 over 50% of internet access will take place via a smartphone. It is therefore necessary to guarantee total coverage, and the idea of crowding the landscape with the classic antennas is certainly not a good prospect.
Italian design comes to our rescue. As early as 2000, with the growth of the mobile sector, a company from Udine had reinvented repeaters. We are talking about the Calzavara Spa that already at the beginning of this century was working in the realization of "non-invasive" antennas.
On the occasion of the Milan Expo, tree-shaped repeaters were installed that merged into the territory. And the success of their project prompted them to dare even more, presenting the Dicecell towers.
Beautiful and functional: the Dicecell towers
With a height that can vary between 6 and 18 meters, Dicecell is a repeater with multiple functions. In fact, it will not only be able to guarantee a fast connection to our smartphone, but it will fully fit into the urban context. How? First of all by providing energy thanks to solar panels and wind generators. The surrounding lighting will therefore be borne by the tower, contributing to the reduction of polluting emissions. You can also recharge your electric bike or smartphone. While, to the delight of tired and cold pedestrians, heated benches will be connected to brighten our walks.
But the Dicecell tower is not just functional. The aesthetic aspect has not been ignored, and the result is that of a modular repeater with a futuristic design. A tower of mirrors, lights, curved lines and colors that integrate into our city.
The first tower will be assembled in the coming months in Milan, but the hope is to see it soon in every city instead of those old and obsolete antennas.
