In heart of Salento, where the sun kisses the ancient walls and the scents of the countryside mix in the air, there is a place that fights a silent battle. And the fraction of Depressa, located a few kilometers from Tricase. Here, the lack of connection is not just a technical factor, but a deep wound in the soul of the community, excluded from "modernity".

Depressa, Salento, the history of the hamlet of Tricase

What might once have seemed like just a cinematic plot element as in film by Federico Moccia, “Non c'è campo”, set nearby in Scorrano, has turned into a reality that directly affects the lives of 1.541 people.

In this place, every day is a struggle to stay connected to the outside world, to not get lost in a digital isolation which undermines the social and economic life of the community. Hopes turn on and off, while the inhabitants desperately seek a solution to this adversity.

The emblematic dialect expression "Vane near the church, there pia bonu" has become the constant refrain in conversations between the inhabitants of Depressa, testimony to the discomfort caused by the lack of field.

This digital isolation represents a real disconnection from modernity, making daily life difficult and compromising communication and financial transactions.

The measures

In this place, modernity is present but clashes with a tangible problem: the lack of cell phone and internet connections.

This absence of line creates inconveniences not only for communications, but also for banking operations and electronic payments. And so, in the small village, the residents head towards the main square, where the signal "gets better".

The Salento deputy Andrew Caroppo has vigorously raised the issue, bringing to light the difficult situation that has afflicted Depressa for several months. This state of affairs not only generates practical obstacles for the inhabitants, but also represents a serious risk case of emergency.

In response to these reports, MP Caroppo acted promptly, filing a question with the Ministry of Productive Activities. His intent is to identify a solution to resolve this problem, which threatens to isolate the community and damage the commercial activities, including tourism, of the regione.

The situation in Depressa requires urgent intervention. Residents, eager to restore normality to their digital lives, are calling for timely and decisive action to overcome this obstacle.
