Covid emergency, the use of the Astrazeneca vaccine prohibited throughout Italy. Aifa (Italian Medicines Agency) took this decision pending the ruling of Ema, the European drug agency.

“The decision by Aifa to suspend the administration of the Astrazeneca vaccine, for exclusively precautionary reasons, was taken after an interview between the Prime Minister Mario Draghi and the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza. During the day, Speranza held talks with the health ministers of Germany, France and Spain.

“We are confident that the European Agency will be able to definitively clarify the issue in the next few hours,” says Health Minister Roberto Speranza. This decision was taken in line with similar measures adopted by other European countries such as Germany and France. The Italian Medicines Agency announces that it will promptly disclose any further information that may become available. The further ways of completing the vaccination cycle will also be illustrated for those who have already received the first dose.

While the use of Astrazeneca is prohibited in several European countries and throughout Italy, data on today's infections arrive. According to data released by the Ministry of Health, in the last 24 hours in Italy they registered 15.267 new positive cases, yesterday they were 21.315.

The victims of today are 354 (yesterday 264). The discharged healed in the last 24 hours are 15.807 (yesterday 9.835); altogether the positive cases are 530.357, 909 cheaper than yesterday. The swabs carried out are 179.015; the ICU patients are 3.157. While 501.862 people infected with the virus remain in home isolation.
