Thousands of positives less while the suspended panettone returns to Milan
Also this year, until December 22, in some pastry shops in Milan you can leave apending panettone'. The solidarity initiative donates a panettone to those who do not have the opportunity to buy one. A way to celebrate Christmas with the traditional dessert. The second edition of the solidarity initiative is promoted by the non-profit association Suspended panettone. The goal is to collect and donate panettone to people in a state of poverty in the city of Milan. Fourteen pastry shops collaborate in the solidarity project, three more than last year.
But the news does not end here. This year even those who do not live in Milan will be able to support the association and leave their contribution “at a distance” through a donation on the website www.panettonesospeso.org. The money raised will then be "transformed" into panettone. A virtual gesture that will become real solidarity.
The initiative, sponsored by the Municipality of Milan, is inspired by the Neapolitan tradition of "suspended coffee": as in Naples, coffee is a symbol, so panettone is for Milan. Until 22 December in the fourteen associated pastry shops (and identified by a special window sticker) anyone will be able to buy a Panettone and leave it "already paid for" waiting to be donated to those less fortunate. For each panettone left open, the pastry shops will add another, thus doubling the actual donation.
Jannacci house
At the end of the harvest, before Christmas, the “suspended panettone” will be delivered to “Casa Jannacci”, the hospitality house in Viale Ortles which offers assistance to the homeless. Another beneficiary will be “Milan helps” the solidarity network created by the Municipality of Milan to support citizens and families in difficulty due to the Covid-19 emergency.
