The numbers of infections from Covid-19 are also growing in our country, but yesterday the tweet, accompanied by a 4 and a half minute video, with which theWorld Health Organization praises Italy for having been able to deal with the pandemic better than other Western countries, despite having been the first to be heavily affected by the Coronavirus.
WHO promotes Italy
"The government and the community, at all levels - comments the WHO - have reacted strongly and reversed the trajectory of the epidemic with a series of measures based on science". And it is due precisely to the ability to have been able to effectively manage the emergency if today Italy registers far fewer infections than other European countries such as France, Spain, United Kingdom, where the situation is becoming more worrying every day.
Data is not alarming, but caution is a must
The data recorded in Italy are not, at the moment, alarming, even if they continue to grow. Yesterday alone there were over 1.900 more cases. Experts recommend the utmost caution to avert a new pandemic, while several regional administrators have issued new ordinances to impose the use of the mask even outdoors.
This is the case of the Calabria Region, where yesterday afternoon, the president Jole Santelli, decided to establish the obligation to use the protective device also outdoors for all citizens, except children under the age of six and people with disabilities not compatible with the use of the same. The obligation to wear a mask even outdoors had already been imposed in recent days also in the historic center of Genoa, in Campania, in Foggia and in Latina.
Cases increase with the reopening of schools
Although the current numbers have nothing to do with the much higher ones recorded during the most critical phase of the emergency, there remains concern about what could happen shortly thereafter if the current data were to skyrocket. Especially now that schools have reopened. In fact, the quarantined classes are growing due to a positive Coronavirus. They count 400 throughout the national territory. Of these, 75 have been closed. Based on the data collected by Il Sole 24 ore, “the greatest number of cases occurred in Lombardy. In second place we find Emilia Romagna, followed by Tuscany and Lazio ”.
The latest episode took place in Trentino, in a middle school in Trieste, where 17 students and 8 teachers were quarantined. Yesterday afternoon, on the other hand, swabs were carried out on 30 children (and their families) in a private kindergarten in Cosenza, where a teacher tested positive. Also of concern is the opening of the stadiums, which should take place gradually from 4 October, preceded by the opinion of the technical-scientific committee.
The situation in Europe
In Europe, the worst figures are recorded in Spain, French and the United Kingdom. In France, the more than 536 thousand infections from Covid-19, together with the over 31 thousand victims, portend a new lockdown. In the city of Marseille, a revolt is underway against the tightening of health rules, desired by the government, such as the closure of bars and restaurants. Spain is experiencing a context similar to that of France, where infections exceed 704. In Madrid, 37 neighborhoods are in isolation, and the population protests in the square exasperated by an unsustainable economic situation. The United Kingdom is also in danger of a new closure, with a number of positives that goes beyond 418.
Covid-19 in the world
Coronavirus positives that are counted in the world exceed 32 million. The worst data comes from the United States, where there are about 7 million infections. Followed by India, with 5,8 million recorded positives (but with a consecutive decline in the last few days), and Brazil, with over 4,6 million. Here, due to these dramatic figures, the Rio carnival, scheduled for next February, has been postponed. In Israel, after the peak that occurred two days ago, a new closure has started which will last until 11 October.
Password: keep your guard up
To prevent the Covid-19 emergency from returning to our country, there is nothing left to do but keep our guard up and continue to respect the basic rules that we know well by now. The use of the mask, social distancing, hygiene, must remain the rule to follow without ifs and buts. For our sake and for those around us.
