Covid, the contagion curve slows down but containment measures cannot yet be relaxed. "There is a slowdown in the growth of the epidemic curve in Italy and today we see the first signs of stabilization". The president of theHigher Institute of Health, Silvio Brusaferro at the press conference on data analysis of the regional monitoring of the control room, organized by the Ministry of Health. “The average age of those who contract the infection is between 40 and 50 years. We are beginning to see a decrease in cases, even among health workers for whom it represents a positive event due to vaccination ".
Meanwhile, as regards today's infections, the Ministry of Health announces that in the last 24 hours they have been registered 23.987 new positive cases (yesterday 23.798). The new deaths are 487 (yesterday 460), the discharged healed today are 19.764 (yesterday 21.673). Overall, the positive cases are 566.711, 3.753 more than yesterday. The swabs carried out are 354.982. In intensive care they are hospitalized 3.628 infected while in home isolation they remain 534.611 people affected by the virus.
Contagions, the curve slows down but the epidemic risk is always high
According to the monitoring data, “there is a slight decrease in the incidence of risk at the national level which does not, however, allow for a reduction in the current restriction measures. Furthermore, the incidence data, transmissibility and the heavy overload of hospital services require the maintenance of rigorous national mitigation measures. Measures accompanied by punctual containment interventions in the areas with the greatest diffusion of virus".
Experts are keen to reiterate that the anti-Covid measures must be maintained "also in light of the sustained increase in the prevalence of some variants of the virus". By maintaining the measures and strengthening the vaccination campaign, the experts hope “we can reach profitable improvements to spend a peaceful summer. We will not eliminate the virus but - they argue - hopefully in a peaceful summer ".
