Covid, the data of November 25: more healings and fewer deaths

The vaccine plan arrives in Parliament

Vaccine plan: millions of doses already for the first weeks of the new year

Vaccini, the European Commission signs a contract with Moderna

La European Commission approved the sixth contract for an anti-Covid vaccine, with the pharmaceutical company Moderna. The contract provides for the initial purchase of 80 million doses on behalf of all EU member states, plus an option to request an additional 80 million doses in a second phase. Doses that will have to be provided once the vaccine has been shown to be safe and effective against Covid-19.

The contract with Moderna, announced by Ursula von der Leyen, will expand the vaccine portfolio for EU countries, adding to the agreements reached with AstraZeneca, Sanofi-GSK, Janssen Pharmaceutica NV, BioNTech-Pfizer and CureVac. The delivery of the Covid vaccine mRna-1273, developed by the US biotech company Moderna, is scheduled for the first quarter of 2021, if the European Medicines Agency (EMA) approves its use. The agreement signed by the European Commission provides for the total purchase of 160 million doses.
