Here are five places to visit absolutely, full of stories to be told by local enthusiasts.

The Crypt of Sant'Andrea

The Amalfi Cathedral is a real masterpiece. City symbol, adored by tourists, locals and historians. The crypt inside is enriched with frescoes depicting episodes from the Gospel. All this adorns the walls and cross vaults. Built to house the remains of Sant'Andrea, it was totally transformed in the XNUMXth century.

An altar was built above the tomb, characterized by a bronze statue of the apostle. On the occasion of some celebrations, the locals (and not only) had the opportunity to witness the so-called "miracle of manna". From the walls of the tomb one can see oily liquid oozing. Anyone who wants to live this experience in first person can do it on January 28, June 26 or in the month of November, entirely consecrated to the saint.

The Bay of Ieranto

A dream place, which requires a ready body to be able to reach it. Finding yourself, however, in the heart of the Bay of Ieranto is worth suffering a little along the way. Legend has it that the sirens who tried to enchant Ulysses lived here.

In order to reach the area you need to go to Nerano and follow the path that leads to the Bay. An inlet that turns its gaze towards the stacks of Capri. Reaching the area early in the morning or in a less touristy period, it will be possible to let yourself be lulled by the sound of the waves and the echoes of the sea that finds space between the rocky cavities. You will seem to hear the echo of the song that attracted the Greek hero.

The Janare of Conca dei Marini

Another place to visit at all costs on the Amalfi Coast is Conca dei Marini. The area also boasts an elevator that leads from the road to the sea, passing through the stone of the ridge. A show guaranteed inside a dream cave, where you can access by boat, listening to the stories from a local sailor.

This is where the history of the Janare finds fertile ground. Beautiful young men by day but terrifying creatures at night. Legend has it that they found a home along the coast. It is necessary to travel along the coast between Praiano and Conca dei Marini to visit the places of the myth. It is said that witches attracted fishermen at night, dancing naked among the vegetation. Anyone who was ready to give in to the lure of the flesh was sacrificed to nature and the sea.

The crib of the Emerald Grotto

The Conca dei Marini lift leads to the Emerald Grotto, which can also be reached by sea. A natural spectacle worked by the action of the wind and water. Chiseled walls with intriguingly shaped stalactites and stalagmites. About 60 meters long, it can be visited on a private tour.

Furthermore, a marvel is kept on the seabed. A submerged nativity scene created in 1964, in order to remember those who fell into the sea. It can be visited all year round, even if during the Christmas holidays everything becomes particularly suggestive. In fact, an underwater procession is organized.

The Torre dello Ziro

The Torre dello Ziro is undoubtedly a suggestive and not very touristic place, considering the effort required to reach it. Made to spot enemy ships, it was part of a mighty defensive line that protected the inlets of the Amalfi Coast. Today it is an excellent vantage point, located between Amalfi and Atrani.

It can be reached with a walk of about 5 km, starting from Pontone. The path is immersed in the woods of Monte Aureo, quite easy. However, there will be steps to tackle at the end, plus more in case you want to venture higher. The view, however, will repay the effort.
