Concert in the Quirinale gardens dedicated to Coronavirus victims. Today, June 1st, at 6.45pm, the head of State Sergio Mattarella will participate in the concert for the Republic Day; the event will be broadcast live on Rai Uno. The orchestra of the Rome Opera House with its musical director Daniele Gatti will perform for the occasion.
Concert for the Republic Day
The concert programme, for bowed instruments only, will alternate between Italian and European authors. The orchestra will perform the great classics that have now carved out a place of honor in the musical history of the twentieth century. This concert will take place without spectators, in compliance with anti-Covid security measures.
The orchestra teachers themselves will perform keeping the necessary distance, as they imposed the provisions established by the national executive to deal with the pandemic. After the performance of the Hymn of Mameli, the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella will also greet the viewers.

"We are truly honored by this invitation, to be able to make the first live concert in Italy after the lockdown restrictions." Said the superintendent of the Teatro dell'Opera Carlo Fuortes who underlines: "It is an event in memory of the victims of the Coronavirus with a strong meaning of hope and rebirth for the world of music".
“The selected program reflects the tragedy we are coming out of and looks with optimism towards a more peaceful future - says Master Gatti - They are short-lived heartfelt songs, capable of speaking to the heart even if you are not in the best musical conditions ".
