In the morning, the decree was signed with which the second part of the program of infrastructural works necessary for the holding of the XX Edition of the Mediterranean Games, scheduled for 2026 in Taranto, was approved. The provision follows the decree of last 16 April which approved interventions for 168 million euros, and now allocates a further 107 million euros for the Games. This means that a further 11 million are added to the first 25 million euros already authorised, which will allow a complete restyling of Via del Mare and its total coverage. “I hoped from the beginning – the comment of President Saverio Sticchi Damiani – that the Mediterranean Games could represent an opportunity for a profound modernization of the Via del Mare, to the point of dreaming of total coverage of our facility, which will make it more modern, functional, welcoming and usable for our fans. Thanks to the effort of all the institutions with which I have had constant and always constructive discussions in recent months, we have managed to achieve a sensational result for our city which will allow us both to have a cutting-edge facility and also to host a sporting event of international prestige.
