Il MEF and the Polygraphic and State Mint they celebrate Italianity once again with the coins of the new one Numismatic Collection 2022. The 17 coins presented last January 25 at the Mint Museum in Rome, are dedicated to anniversaries of the disappearance of great Italian personalities, such as Dante Alighieri, Antonio Canova, Falcone and Borsellino, Alberto Sordi e Paolo Rossi. In the collection there is also space for the celebration of anniversaries of institutions, organizations and companies, such as theEight hundred years of the University of Padua, or the anniversary of the founding of the State Police. The coins were issued in different denominations, ranging from 2 €, up to 50 €.

Coins of € 2 and € 10

One of the 2 € coins most iconic of the Numismatic Collection 2022, is the one dedicated to 30th anniversary of the death of John Falcone and Paolo Borsellino. The reverse depicts the famous photo of the two judges, taken by the photographer Tony Gentile. The others celebrate the 170th anniversary of the founding of the State Police and the 35th anniversary of the Erasmus program. The coin from 10€ it is part of the Fountains of Italy series and is dedicated to Trevi Fountain. The obverse depicts a fountain "big nose”, While on the back there is a detail of the famous Roman fountain.

Numismatic Collection 2022: 5 € coins

The majority of the collection is instead made up of 5€. Among the most curious are those of Italian Food and Wine Culture Series. This year the State Mint has decided to pay homage to Lombard products (Franciacorta and Panettone) and Apulian (Primitivo and Orecchiette). The coin of the Sustainable World Series Endangered animals dedicated to Jaguar. Finally the coin Great Italian Artists Series - Alberto Sordi, wanted to pay homage to the great and unforgettable Roman actor.

Even with the 5 € coins of the Numismatic Collection 2022 the MEF wanted to celebrate some important anniversaries dedicated to organizations, institutions, structures and great Italians. One of these is the Ottocentenario of the University of Padua. The coin depicts the historian Bo Palace with the handrail of the Ladder of Knowledge and, on the back, the seal ofUniversity of Padua. Other celebrations celebrated in the new collection are the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of the Monetary Anti-Counterfeiting Carabinieri Command and the 100th Anniversary of the Monza National Circuit. Other decidedly curious 5 € coins are related to the sports. The first celebrates the 40th Anniversary of Italy World Champion. It is a rectangular coin depicting a ball in the net (straight) and Paolo Rossi in the famous exultation (reverse). The second is the Italian Excellence Series - Panini Stickers, with the historic photo of Charles Word in reverse (obverse) the representation of a figurine with a football field (reverse).

Coins of € 5 and € 20 (or € 20 and € 50)

La Numismatic Collection 2022 also offers coins in two versions, with denominations of € 5 and € 20 (or € 20 and € 50). The first celebrates the 200th anniversary of the death of Antonio Canova. The second, 700th Anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri - Purgatory, celebrates the Supreme Poet. The coin depicts (obverse) Dante's profile painted by Botticelli and (reverse) Dante's Purgatory. The third is instead dedicated to Pirelli 150th anniversary and was issued in three versions on the obverse: with the advertisement "PIRELLI tyres"Of 1914 by Stanley Charles Roowy, advertising "PIRELLI-CINTURATO-Your safety belt"Of 1957 by Richard Manzi and with the representation of a PIRELLI tire mounted on a stylized car. On the reverse there is instead the first PIRELLI factory in Milan in 1872. The last of the double denomination coins (from € 20 and € 50) is the reissue of the Lira - 2 Lire from the XNUMXs.

Numismatic Collection 2022 - 20 euro coins

The new coins issued by the Ministry of Economy and Finance are an extraordinary celebration of Italy and all those people, institutions, organizations and companies that have given so much to Italy. As stated by the president of the Poligrafico e Mint dello Stato, Antonio Palma:«The presentation of the Numismatic Collection represents an important moment. Each coin contributes to narrating, enhancing and sealing the collective memory and identity of our country, through the celebration of protagonists who have crossed our cultural, literary and artistic path. The Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato thus becomes the center of memory and promoter of the future also through the study and constant progress of manufacturing techniques ». The 17 coins of the Numismatic Collection 2022 will finally be available for purchase on the State Mint website from 11 am on Tuesday 1 February.
