Carnival biscuits
We usually know them because they are tasty and always appreciated. However, we revisited the recipe for Carnival to be in theme with the festive air that we breathe these days. We thought of combining tradition with that touch of originality that only Carnival can give. And then, surely, they will sell like hot cakes among the little ones, because they are very inviting. They bring joy, that even your children will want to go to the kitchen to help you prepare them. You just have to indulge yourself in the kitchen!
Carnival biscuits: which ingredients do we need?
So, we need: 500 grams of 00 flour; 125 grams of icing sugar; 250 grams of margarines; a sachet of vanillin; 1 egg; 1 cup of milk; jam; dark chocolate (to be melted in a water bath); colored sprinkles; smarties.
How to prepare them
To make today's recipe, whip the margarine (which you have previously softened) together with the icing sugar, until you get a kind of frothy mixture. Then add the egg and continue stirring until the ingredients are well mixed. Then, sift the flour and add to the mixture. Continue to mix everything, until you get a dough. Then add a cup of milk: in this way the dough will not be excessively crumbly. Leave to rest for about two hours in the fridge wrapped in plastic wrap. Then, take your dough and spread it on a floured surface. Alternatively, you can work the dough by placing it between two sheets of parchment paper. With the help of a cookie cutter, create different round shapes. In one of the two biscuits, draw eyes and mouth.
Place them on pans previously covered with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 10-15 minutes. Then take them out of the oven and let them cool. Put a layer of jam on one part of the biscuits and close them with the other half of the biscuit which reproduces the eyes and mouth. Make them stick well. In the meantime, melt the dark chocolate and dip the top of the biscuits. Sprinkle the part dipped in chocolate with the colored sprinkles. To attack the smarties you can use a compound made with water and sugar. Then put them on a wire rack so that the chocolate can dry. Yummy!
Conservation method
We suggest you store them in glass or plastic containers, away from heat sources. Also because chocolate risks to melt.
Tips
You can vary the flavors of the jam, it all depends on the preferences of those who are going to taste the biscuits. Alternatively, you can also use the hazelnut cream. It will give a more chocolatey touch! Rather than using colored sprinkles, you can also add granulated sugar.
We just have to wish you lots of fun in the kitchen and enjoy your biscuits!
