The island of Capri it is one of the most beautiful places in Italy. A popular destination for many tourists fascinated by its turquoise waters, from the faraglioni or from the famous Piazzetta where it often happens to see famous people in the sunny summer afternoons, sitting at the coffee tables chatting happily. Capri is theItalian island of the good life, of the paparazzi, of the escapes by motorboat towards the Blue Grotto, sea trips to isolated places where to frolic undisturbed. Capri is the wonderfully colored postcard of our Italy.
The American First Lady knew it well Jacqueline Kennedy who loved spending his holidays on the island. His walks among the shops of the local artisans looking for big hats, handmade leather sandals, colored straw bags. Jacqueline, with a few and selected accessories, created what the world knows as the "Capri style".
The Capri style: ankle-length trousers, foulard and sandals
It is on this island that some were born timeless trends. That typically Italian holiday chic look. Large sunglasses, silk scarves to use if necessary to cover the hair for a sudden boat trip or wide straw hats that give shade but also a lot of mystery.
Jackie brought her jaunty style to the island which later became the typically island style: ankle-length cigarette pants, which are still called "Capri", leather sandals, essential for the day and with rhinestones and heels for the evening, simple cotton T-shirts to put on, if desired, on wide patterned skirts. Capri sandals, also known as Tiberius' sandals, because it was the emperor who brought them to the island, are still highly sought after today. Shoes made entirely by hand with Italian and customizable leathers that are the object of the desire of many tourists. Just fasten them around the ankle to immediately smell the scent of summer.
Caprese cake, a wonder of chocolate and almonds
Walking in the center, along via Caramelle, it can happen to meet Armani, Valentino o Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce. Continuing on, you arrive at the belvedere which offers a spectacular view of the Faraglioni. In the years Jackie Kennedy, Brigitte Bardot or Maria Callas they chose those Italian leaders who have now become the dress code of the island and not only.
Bardot loved wearing shorts and ballet flats. And these too are the inevitable accessories of Capri summers. To complete the whole natural make-up like that light trail of perfume that accompanies the sunny summer afternoons. Capri enchants and has a long history of traditional craftsmanship. Don't just think about sandals. There are those who put art in the kitchen as did those who created it famous caprese cake, Neapolitan dessert made of chocolate and almonds. An explosion of flavors, to accompany a good coffee to be enjoyed in the Piazzetta before running towards the sea.
