What is the Book Capital 2022
The finalist cities for the capital of the 2022 book, therefore, are eight. But when was this new competition born to fill the coveted role? It was born with a law of 13 February 2020, n. 15, which provides for the annual assignment to an Italian city, by the Council of Ministers, of the title of "Italian capital of the book". The projects of the city awarded the title are financed within the spending limit of half a million euros.
The half million will be financed by the Directorate General for Libraries and Copyright provided through the Center for books and reading. At the end of the hearings, the Commission will indicate the winning city to Minister Dario Franceschini for the proclamation. Then there will be the event for the award of the title by the Council of Ministers. In previous editions the book capital was a prize awarded to clear in 2020 and a Vibo Valentia in 2021.
Capital of culture 2024
The capital of the book refers to the capital of culture. Pordenone ran for both events. In the past, the Friulian city had also applied as a capital of culture 2024, but failed to reach the final which was instead reached by Sestri Levante with Tigullio (province of Genoa), Mesa (province of Brindisi), Syracuse, Grosseto and Viareggio, Vicenza and Chioggia (in Veneto), Union Pmuni Paestum- Alto Cilento (province of Salerno), Pesaro and Ascoli Piceno.
Good luck to everyone! 🤗
