The transfer window has been open for a month now, and there's another month or so to go before it closes. But which club is moving the most actively? And which is making big signings?
Just like in school, where the first quarter report cards are issued, we have also produced the report cards for the transfer market, which is practically halfway through (there is in fact about a month left until it closes).

Serie C, the top seven from the first half of the transfer market
7th place - Sambenedettese (group B) - score 6+
A very active club, with 11 signings. The following have arrived: Scafetta, Iaiunese, Tosi, Vesprini, Alfieri, Zagaglia, Bongelli, Konate, Chelli, Marranzino, and Napolitano. The club seems determined to do well, perhaps needing a major move up front, but so far the work done is positive.
6th place - Cittadella (group A) - score 6,5
The new arrivals are a mix of experience and youth: Anastasia (Trento), Egharevba (Renate), Barberis (free agent), Gatti (free agent), Crialese (Pescara), Gaddini (Arezzo). Furthermore, (for now) among the big names, only Masciangelo has left the squad, which remains essentially the same one that almost survived Serie B.
5th place - Casarano (group C), grade 7
A rookie who hadn't been in professional football for decades, he clearly demonstrated his ambitions and clear ideas in the first part of the transfer window. He made the top signing, but then also brought in other experienced signings: Gega, Maiello, Millico, Bacchin, Chiorra, Di Dio. Finally, a slew of free agent arrivals, useful for adding a healthy dose of financial attention: Zanaboni, Cerbone, Antinucci, Palumbo.
4th place - Lecco (group A) - score 7+
Ten signings, some of whom are quite experienced. From Furrer (arriving from Neuchatel Xamax) to Alaoui (Eintracht Frankfurt), Bonaiti (Alcione Milan) and Pellegrino (Fribourg). Then the youngsters: Romani (Fiorentina) and Ndongue (Atalanta). Finally, many free signings (Lovisa, Mallamo, Metlika, Tanco). A shrewd and, so far, quality transfer market.
3rd place - Catania (group C) - score 7,5
Casasola, Rolfini, Pieraccini, Donnarumma, Forte: a wealth of experience confirming the club's ambitions. Catania has started the transfer market strongly. Their only loss is Inglese, but "the shark" Forte seems capable of replacing him.
2nd place - Salernitana (group C) - score 8
Faggiano is on fire: in his first month as Salernitana's sporting director, he's landed key signings such as Inglese (14 goals between the playoffs and the league last year), midfielder Varone (over 100 appearances between Serie C and Serie B and a regular starter for Ascoli last year), Matino from Bari, and Capomaggio from Cerignola, whom Salernitana managed to snatch from a Serie B club. Rounding out the roster are Ferrari, Coppolaro, Villa, and Anastasio.
1st place - Benevento (group C) - score 9,5
The absolute star, despite the sensational setback caused by the Tumminello deal. There's no doubt that Benevento is the club that has done best in the transfer market so far; it would have been very difficult to do better. Their signings speak for themselves: Salvemini (Audace Cerignola), Romano (Audace Cerignola), Saio (Cavese), Pierozzi (released), Maita (Bari), Vannucchi (Ternana), Della Morte (Vicenza), Scognamillo (Catanzaro), Borghini (released), Ceresoli (Atalanta), Ricci (Cosenza), Mehic (Virtus Verona). A picture more like a Serie B team than a Serie C one. Congratulations to Vigorito and company.
