Caffè Florian, a piece of San Benedetto company history for over 100 years

Caffè Florian is the historic coffee shop most prestigious in the city It is located on the corner of the two main streets of San Benedetto del Tronto, in a central position on the pedestrian area. It has always been a point of reference for the city, and has based its success on the quality of its products (from pastries to mixed drinks) and service, as well as on the perfect harmony with cultural and social growth of San Benedetto, always proposing itself as center of interest for the locals.

History

The origins of Caffè Florian date back to the early twentieth century. Initially, it was called Adria Coffee and was involved in the sale of liqueurs, jams, sweets, chocolates, pastries and wine in flasks. In 1937, it was taken over by Alberto Moretti and took the name of Empire Coffee. But the city was hit hard during the Second World War: it suffered 127 aerial bombardments and 5 naval ones. The structure was subsequently closed due to destroyed by the bombingsIn 1953 Osvaldo Urbani reopened it with the same characteristics as the previous café, only replacing the name in Caffè Florian, in homage to his wife Floriana. In 1985, the management changed again and a bar and lunch break were added.

The interior of Caffè Florian

Furthermore, it has a comfortable internal tea room mainly reserved for cultural events and initiatives such as the literary coffee. But it is also the scenario of theme nights with tastings, music and photographic exhibitions. Defined as the best coffee in the Marche region for quality and professionalism, but with the added bonus of hosting the most qualified and operational literary café in Italy. All this in an elegant and refined location that, not surprisingly, often sees the active participation of prominent figures. For this reason, Caffè Florian is also known as "the cultural oasis” of San Benedetto del Tronto.

In essence, Caffè Florian is synonymous with a small but great pleasure, a brief stop immersed in art, but above all, history.
