INPS recently announced the implementation of a new functionality that allows the management of questions relating to daycare bonus. The details, how much it amounts to and which categories of people are entitled to it, as well as the appropriate time to request it. Furthermore, also the news to understand the changes made regarding parental leave.
Nursery bonus, all the details
The nursery bonus is a Economic support introduced by law no. 232 of 11 December 2016. The amount of the bonus depends on the minor ISEE of the child for whom the benefit is requested. It is provided directly by INPS upon request of the parent or guardian who bears the cost of the fee. The instructions for submitting applications are contained in the INPS circulars of 14 February 2020, n. 27, 2 March 2023, n. 889 and 11 March 2024, n. 1024.

The bonus is intended for families with children under the age of three or who turn three years old in the calendar year, attend an authorized public or private nursery school or are suffering from serious certified chronic pathologies. The maximum amount payable varies based on the ISEE for minors:
- ISEE up to 25.000 euros: 3.000 euros per year (272,73 euros per month for 11 months).
- ISEE from 25.001 euros up to 40.000 euros: 2.500 euros per year (227,27 euros per month for 11 months).
- ISEE above 40.000 euros: 1.500 euros per year (136,37 euros per month for 11 months).
Parental leave, what to know
One of the main changes concerns parental leave, which it now offers more opportunities to employed parents. Within six years of the child's life or the adopted minor's entry into the family, parents can take advantage of up to two months of parental leave compensated at 80%.
La INPS circular provides detailed instructions on this measure, which provides for a first month paid at 80% and a second month paid at 60% of the salary. It is important to note that the second month's allowance will increase to 80% for 2024 only.

Periods of leave beyond the limit of 10 or 11 months are not compensated, unless the parent concerned has an individual income lower than 2,5 times the amount of the minimum pension payable by the parent.Compulsory general insurance.
