The Italian swimmer Benedetta Pilato, specialized in breaststroke, won gold at the World Championships in Budapest 2022. The very young 17 year old from Taranto finished in 1'05 ″ 93 ahead of the German Anna Elendt and the Lithuanian Ruta Meilutyte. Second gold medal of the day for Italy in pool swimming.
His words after the victory: "I'm super happy, this was my dream and tonight it became reality".
