The second weekend of February 2025 promises to be marked by bad weather across the entire Italian peninsula, with the arrival of cold currents from continental Europe. A small vortex forming over the central Mediterranean will contribute to intensifying adverse weather conditions.

Bad weather: the details

Saturday, February 8: rain and snow at low altitudes on Saturday, February 8. Northern Italy will be characterized by colder temperatures, with snowfall even at low altitudes. The central regions, especially the Tyrrhenian ones, will be affected by rain, showers and thunderstorms. In the South, the major islands will record heavy rains, with possible heavy rains in Sicily. Campania and Ionian Calabria will suffer significant rains, while elsewhere many clouds with isolated phenomena are expected. Temperatures will remain stationary in the South and slightly decreasing in the North.

Sunday 9 February: Widespread bad weather that will mainly affect the North, with scattered rain and snowfall rising up to 1.100-1.200 meters in the Alps. Between the afternoon and evening, a gradual attenuation of the phenomena is expected. In the Center, the Tyrrhenian strip will see rain in the morning, followed by an improvement. Elsewhere, more irregular clouds and locally large clearings. In the South, Sicily will be hit by showers and thunderstorms, even strong, while southern Sardinia and Ionian Calabria will record rain. Temperatures will rise in the South, with rough seas.

Weather after the rainy weekend: update

The weather forecast for the following week is not the best. In fact, the bad weather will continue for part of next week, with rain expected until Wednesday, February 12. A gradual return of sunshine is expected starting from Thursday, February 13.
