Avis of San Benedetto del Tronto: the desire to inform and involve

Avis as a donation association

Specifically, Avis is a non-profit organization under private law. Donating is a completely free gestureDonations are not for compensation. Just as they are intended exclusively to help someone we know, the person our blood goes to remains anonymous, and this is the most fascinating part of the donation itself, because it involves an act of altruism. The gesture must be free, conscious, and spontaneous: these elements encompass the concept of “donation”. In this regard, it is open to all those who wish to donate their blood voluntarily, anonymously, periodically, and free of charge. This also applies to those who, unable to perform this act due to unsuitability, wish to contribute free of charge. Founded in Milan in May 1927 on the initiative of the doctor Vittorio Formentano, Avis is made up of over 1.300.000 volunteers. And today it is the largest Italian blood donation organization which, thanks to its members, it is able to guarantee approximately 80% of the national requirement.
