Sudden summer in Italy: temperatures rising sharply in the next few days. Summer seems to arrive suddenly: thanks to the expansion of the African anticyclone, we will witness a notable increase in temperatures, with values that could reach 37°C.
After a period marked by frequent rains, the change will be clear, so much so that it will seem like we are already in the middle of July or in the middle of summer. Starting today, Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 May, a first rise in temperatures is expected across a good part of Italy. The plains of the North and the inland areas of the Center will be the hottest, with highs that could reach 27/28°C. Eyes focused on cities like Milan, Bologna, Florence e Rome where temperatures will even touch 30 degrees. The Adriatic regions and the South will be an exception, where the passage of a rapid unstable front could cause some disturbance at a meteorological level.
Hot weekend: here is the most intense phase of the heat
The peak of this heat wave is expected over the weekend. Atmospheric conditions will form a typical configuration of the heat waves that hit the Mediterranean in summer, phenomena that in recent years have been increasingly frequent even out of season, and which bring very high temperatures. This marked increase will be generated by the arrival of very hot and humid air masses of subtropical origin, which will begin to rise from Sahara as early as Friday 30 May, pushing towards the Mediterranean.
African heat with 36 degrees
The forecast map shows maximum temperatures well above 30°C across the entire peninsula between Saturday 31 May and Sunday 1 June. In some areas, peaks of 36/37°C could be recorded in the internal areas of the peninsula. Sardinia and up to 34/35°C in Sicilia.
