A few weeks ago we told you about the difficult relationship between Italian genius and patents. Inventions that changed history, then ended up being attributed to other people. A real injustice, but it seems that Italian inventors have learned their lesson. This at least in the case of Angiolino Marangoni, the entrepreneur from Verona who has designed (and recorded!) some really interesting inventions in recent years.
The genius of Angiolino Marangoni
Angiolino Marangoni started working at a very young age in a famous shoe company. Already during this experience he looks for systems to minimize the risk of accidents and increase productivity. The genius of Marangoni thus gives birth, in a few years, to machines that greatly improve the conditions and production of the company. Obviously all patented (you never know!). Subsequently he is summoned for the compulsory military service which makes him give up his job. After the short and intense military interlude, he decides to set up his own business by opening a bar with his wife. And in his free time he begins to devote himself more and more to his greatest passions: sport and inventions.
Buy a small piece of land where he builds a football field to allow children to play football in a safe facility. He founded a sports club, the Jovenese, and begins to patent various systems capable of making every corner of the pitch safe. Also start an activity which becomes in a few years leader in Italy in the supply of various machines and equipment for the turf of pitches or entire stadiums. In short, a nice goal that allows Angiolino Marangoni to transform his passions into a real job. Without ever neglecting the bureaucratic aspect of patents.
From Elvi-98 to Paola Accident Prevention Hook
The invention that allows Marangoni to make itself known is Elvi-98. The name is in honor of the mother who passed away at the age of 98. But what is it about? They are two small light panels that install just below the rear and front license plate of a vehicle. The panels respond to the driver's action, allowing pedestrians and other vehicles to understand his intentions. In practice, you can know if it is slowing down or if it has decided to continue without stopping. It may seem trivial, but in this way the pedestrian intent on crossing the road can understand if the vehicle is braking or not (in the front part of a car there are no stops). This invention immediately caught the attention of many people, including the police who praised Marangoni's creature several times. Patent then filed (also abroad) with the hope of seeing it soon installed in every vehicle.
Then there is football, a great passion of both the Veronese inventor and his children. And it is they who give names to Marangoni's inventions. The first is Angelica and it is a machine capable of tracing lines on the field in a very short time, all using an ecological and non-toxic paint: the White Angelica. Then, there is Alessandro, the anti-tipping door, fixed to the ground by the snake Anaconda (no, this time the children have nothing to do with it). Finally there is the Paola hook (his wife's name) who keeps the net anchored by replacing the metal ones, which in the past have caused quite a few accidents.
These are just some of the many inventions by Marangoni, recently approved by the FIFA and used by some companies of Serie-A. Small objects (even trivial for some), however, capable of making football fields safer. Always keeping an eye on the patent issue, to avoid unpleasant surprises.
