Yes, Agrigento cooking show will be a moment of confrontation at the Palazzo dei Filippini, with a screening of the videos in competition, and a challenge in the kitchen of the first three finalists. The event is scheduled for June 22, starting at 21, in the former college of the Filippini, in the historic center.

Eating out is a ritual, cooking an act of sharing, all of this was missing in the lockdown. An act that we had taken for granted and which contains experiences, experiments, encounters. Agrigento cooking show celebrates this custom by relating restaurateurs and video makers. They have the task of staging video stories and explaining the atmospheres linked to the premises, leading the spectators on olfactory and tasting itineraries capable of moving. Cash prizes up for grabs.
In the videos, the restaurateurs of Agrigento also tell how they choose the excellences of the territory, how they create virtuous relationships, how these awareness become part of their recipes. Because a perfect dish is the sum of a research. All this condensed into a video that lasts no more than three minutes.

Here are the twelve restaurants, located around the city: Re di Girgenti, La Scala, U Strittu di Sant'Anna, Le boccerie, Aguglia persa, Kalos, Sal8, Perbacco, CapoPesca Fisheria, Matra, Ex Panificio, Yellove.

How Agrigento cooking show was born

We asked Marco Gallo, the video maker who created the event, how the idea was born.
We wanted to get around the pandemic problem - he explains - which greatly penalized restaurateurs. I wanted to enhance my job and I wanted to highlight the professionalism of the restaurateurs, with something that could remain, the video could be useful for communication and become a means of promotion. This is why I put photographers and video makers in the middle, two worlds that come together to share a goal.

How do you plan to share the collected videos?

Through social media, that they allow us to go further, to go out into the world. Agrigento cooking show is not just a food and wine project, but a tourist one. There are twelve restaurateurs and twelve videomakers. A considerable number, for an unprecedented synergy.

What is the peculiarity?

The first phase is online, the first three, who receive the most likes on social media, access the final live, in the atrium of the former college, a place we have chosen to enhance the historic center. We wanted to involve this part as well. In the next editions we will also open to the province

Who is the jury made up of?

From representatives of realities such as the wine roads, slow food, Ais Siclia, just to name a few. The thousand euros go to the restaurateur and a thousand to the videomaker. This is to say that they both win: the way you work and the way you tell. A jury of journalists and food bloggers will decide the best story. This section will receive a prize of 500 euros. Both the videomaker and the restaurateur.

How was this hybridization of video and catering?

Amazing. The video makers have turned a lot to tell a dish, we wanted to explain what moves behind, the dedication and care, the chain of producers, for this they went to the countryside, they discovered companies, they got involved for a just cause: to create a revival of the sector.
